Loving Hands Prayer Shawl Ministry

The Loving Hands Prayer Shawl Ministry is a group of approximately 15 members and friends of MPC who gather on Thursdays to create knitted or crocheted shawls as gifts to those who have suffered a loss, are struggling with health or other issues, or are celebrating such events as marriages and baptisms. One of the members also creates hand woven shawls.

Meeting times are weekly on Thursdays from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. in Room 40 of the church.

For more information please see The Loving Hands Prayer Shawl Ministry brochure.

Prayer Shawls Sent to Japan

Dear Friends in Christ in Manassas Presbyterian Church Prayer Shawl Ministry,

This is a note to confirm that I received a big and most beautiful and faith-filled box of love in the form of warm and lovely Prayer Shawls, sent in the name of the Manassas Presbyterian Church Prayer Shawl Ministry, and with the contact name of Nancy Weaver. I am an ELCA (Lutheran) missionary living here in Tokyo. One of my students, Kyoko Yokoyama, was directly hit by the tsunami. We went to Sendai to bring her encouragement and brought one prayer shawl that had arrived earlier. Kyoko was deeply touched by this physical, tangible evidence of prayer support. My husband and I, and our students, will be involved in the long-term after-care in the months and perhaps years to come. Please know that your wonderful gifts will be a tremendous blessing to each and every person who receives a shawl. We will have your card and letter translated into Japanese. I will send more information in the future, but I just wanted you to know that the shawls have been received and are already molding their prayerful power of support. Please pray for the as yet unknown persons who will be receiving these shawls. The Lord already knows the names or the recipients, so you don't have to worry about that. A very special word of gratitude to the person who shared in the shipping costs. What a blessing to people here.  Thank you so much, in the name of Christ. Please continue to pray for our good people of Japan. We love them very much, and know that the Lord loves them far more.

Blessings to you all!

In Christ,
Carol Sack, ELCA Missionary
